My care journey
The leap from the art world to elder care may seem surprising, but my background enriched my new mission.
Mimi Moore
From art to elder care: A journey of compassion.
With a BFA from the University of Michigan, I began my career immersed in the world of art, as an interior designer, curator, gallerist, and co-owner of the Sebastian Moore Art Gallery, Denver, where we showcased contemporary works from renowned artists.
After my tenure as director of the art program at Denver International Airport, where I managed the budget, directed public art commissions, and curated, designed, and installed exhibitions, I yearned for a new direction. After moving to California, caring for my aging parents revealed the challenges of finding compassionate in-home care. This led me to found At Your Service Elder Care in Ojai in 2011.
The transition from the art world to elder care may seem surprising, but my background has enriched my new mission. My travels and art experiences helped me connect deeply with my clients, while my business acumen helped streamline the care they needed. Additionally, my expertise in interior design enabled me to create nurturing, stimulating environments. With At Your Service, I offered bedside companionship and support to individuals in the final stages of terminal illnesses, ensuring they felt cared for and valued. I also assisted clients with daily activities, empowering them to live independently at home. Believing that fulfillment comes from engagement, I organized cultural outings and activities, from trips to the theater to visits with friends.
Now back in Denver, I’m excited to bring my experience, skills, and passion for elder care to enhance the lives of older adults here. The first step is a phone call to discuss your needs, and then we’ll collaborate to design a program that reduces your stress and supports your elders.
